Goodbye California, Howdy Texas
One year ago, I was joking on Twitter that moving to Texas was such a 2021 thing in California.
Back then, I was not so convinced that I would be one day jumping on the bandwagon of the California Exodus.
One year later, we just bought a house in Texas and are going to move there this summer. Most importantly, this is by choice and has become an important life change that my husband and I are excited about.
Life In California
California was always my dream state to move to. When I first came to the states, my then-boyfriend, now-husband took me to visit coastal California. Since then, I fell in love with this beautiful state.
Despite several attempts to move to California, my husband and I did not get to live in this dream state. After graduate school in Boulder, Colorado, we applied for jobs in Bay Area Califonia. Instead, we got our first jobs in Manhattan. After a few years, we tried again to find jobs in California. Instead, we moved to Seattle, Washington.
