My Story with A Pot of Chocolate Mint

A Story about Business

Many years ago, I bought a pot of chocolate mint from Home Depot for $2. “What is chocolate mint?!” Chocolate mint is an interesting kind of mint; if you break the leaves, it smells like chocolate. Chocolate goes well with mint in ice creams, but this plant naturally combines the two. Isn’t it amazing?

I bought it because I was just curious, but I didn’t know what to do with it. I tried sprinkling it into my water, maybe once. Then I forgot it ever existed. It stayed in the pot in my flower bed. Over time, it propagated and gradually crawled into the soil of the flower bed.

Next early spring, the chocolate mint plant dominated half of the flowerbed. They are often dwarf plants in early spring. Towards summer, the plant start to elongate, with fewer leaves left. So early spring is their time to shine.

I was so busy with my two little kids and had no time for gardening. I forgot about these chocolate mint plants in my flower bed once again. They could have it all to themselves. Seattle in early spring is full of drizzling rain. These chocolate mint plants thrive on this God-given water. No fertilizer. No nothing.

Another year passed, and spring arrived again. This time, chocolate mint dominated the whole flower bed, its fresh green covering it…
