Books I Read in 2024
It’s that time of year again! I feel guilty about not reading as much this year, as I spent more time building. Unlike previous years, I didn’t read many financial books but explored different aspects of life, broadening my perspective.
(You can find all my previous book reviews here, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023)
Here we go: these are the books I read this year. As always, I’ve also shared where I found the books and the serendipity behind discovering them.
Writing for Busy Readers, by Todd Rogers, Jessica Lasky-Fink
This book teaches how your readers read books (they have short attention spans and don’t have much time), and how to get to the point without saying much.
The writing style is a great example of what it preaches: simple words, simple sentences, and clear structures, yet conveying big ideas.
Even the thickness of the physical book speaks for itself. If I want to write another book, I aim for the book to be that thick or thinner. Any thicker, it becomes mental stress for readers.
Several great quotes from the book:
“Brevity is the soul of wit.” Polonius in Shakespeare’s Hamlet
“I would have written a shorter letter if I’d had more time.” Blaise Pascal
